Costs & Financial Supports

Long-term care rates start at a minimum rate set by the Ministry of Health for all Subsidized/Funded care. The rates increase according to a person’s income, to a maximum amount (generally 80% of a person’s income). Rates are updated annually based on Line 26000 of your annual tax return. Before moving in, your Care Manager at the Health Authority/Home & Community Care Office will advise you of the rate and any other associated charges or fees. You or your Substitute Decision Maker will be asked to sign an admission agreement relating to your financial responsibility. More information can be found here: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/health-safety/home-community-care/accountability/hcc-policy-manual/7_hcc_policy_manual_chapter_7.pdf.

Private pay rates vary by community. Please call your local community for more information.

Transition & Getting Settled

Once you’ve been assessed and officially offered a room, you are welcome to move-in on the pre-arranged date. We provide a bed, bedside table, dresser, and closet or bureau. We encourage you to make the space your own – consider bringing small personal items, a TV, photographs and pictures for your wall, etc. – we want your new space to feel like home.
