Accommodation rates for long-term care in British Columbia fall under two categories: government-subsidized care and private-pay care.
Government-subsidized care:
If you fit the eligibility criteria, the British Columbia Ministry of Health may subsidize part of your costs for long-term care. You will pay a monthly rate of up to 80 per cent of your after-tax income. This is subject to minimum and maximum monthly rates. Some residents may be eligible for a rate reduction. For more information, visit the British Columbia Ministry of Health website.
Privately-paid care:
Privately-paid for long-term care is not subsidized by the government, and rates are based on market prices. Contact your insurance company or veteran’s affairs to see if they may cover part of your costs.
