Barnswallow Place Community in Elmira

Welcome to Barnswallow Place

The picturesque community of Elmira is home to Barnswallow Place Community. Nestled in the horse-friendly heart of Mennonite country and just north of Waterloo, this warm, welcoming community of 96 people is known for its bright, close-knit atmosphere. During the warmer months, relax with family and friends in our enclosed courtyard which shows off our thriving gardens, or visit the nearby St. Jacob’s Farmers Market – the largest year-round farmer’s market in Canada. In colder weather, the focus turns indoors with plenty of opportunities to remain active with a variety of programs and events.

Kind words from residents and families

  • “It was a very emotional thing to have to put my wife in a home. I was understandably worried about the care she would receive. In the short time she has been [at Barnswallow Place Care Community] the staff, from the front office to the staff working the floors, have been wonderful.”

  • “My mom has been a resident [at Barnswallow Place Care Community] for almost 9 years… I have personally witnessed the caring, compassion and respect the staff provide to all residents. I will forever be grateful to this facility for the care my mom has and continues to receive. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this long-term care facility to anyone.”

  • “The Sienna Living nursing staff are conscientious, available to talk and very caring. I have heard many good stories about [Barnswallow Place Care Community] and they are proving correct. Not all LTC facilities show this way and I'm thankful that this facility was available when my Mom needed care.”
